Couples Work with Emotionally Focused Therapy and Developmental Model

Emotionally Focused Couples therapy works by identifying the negative pattern that has formed in the relationship and then building emotional security between the couples to reestablish the bond. As an Emotionally Focused Therapist, I work to make both partners feel understood with compassion and empathy. The length of this process varies for couples depending on how deep and long standing the hurts are and how motivated each person is to change it. The process works with the deep emotional hurts that raise feelings of anger, sadness and fear. Once these feelings are deeply understood by both partners and the therapist - the healing process begins and they can make space for a more loving connection. Another important element in couples work is understanding the individual differences between partners without it threatening the security of the relationship. Partner who can respect each other's differences grow as in their maturity as a couple. This approach is emotional and experiential.

Maintenance and Preventative Care

Therapy isn't just meant resolve problems or for the emotionally unstable. To live a life pf psychological balance one must take time to pay attention to their inner worlds and to make time to listen to themselves. We all need learn to support ourselves and to receive support in our lives. I would be honored to be on that journey with you.
